Brian Kennedy's George Best tribute single featuring Don McLean's song Vincent is number 4 on the UK singles chart and number 3 on the Irish chart.

Profits from the single will support research into liver disease. George Best, a well known former footballer and personality, died last month following a long battle with alcoholism and liver disease.

Brian Kennedy supported Don McLean at the Roscommon Music Festival in 2003 and is Ireland's entry in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. www.briankennedy.co.uk

These songs were sung at the funeral of former footballer George Best and the single is in aid of charities supporting alcoholism and liver disease. Best was an alcoholic who had a liver transplant four years ago. He died from complications arising from his alcoholism.

Brian Kennedy is Ireland's entry in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.

News reports state that Irish singer Brian Kennedy will sing Don McLean's Vincent at the funeral of ex-footballer George Best on Saturday 3rd December. Up to 500,000 people are expected to line the cortege's route and the service will be broadcast on Sky News. Best was a famous footballer for Man United and Northern Ireland in the 1960s and 70s and continued a high profile media career thereafterwards. His life was blighted by alcoholism, a contributing factor to his death at age 59 last Friday.

Brian Kennedy supported Don McLean and the Beach Boys at the Roscommon music festival in 2003. He is Ireland's entry in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.
